Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities. We know that the act of giving back to others makes the world a better place and makes us better people. Serving and giving in Lincoln connects us as sisters and as a chapter. In addition, we are fortunate enough to be able to include our family and friends in fun events that raise money for exceptional causes.

Our national philanthropy is Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 2002, Chi Omega has raised more than 12.9 million dollars and has volunteered over half a million hours for Make-A-Wish.  Because of this commitment, they recognize Chi Omega as one of their Cause Champion sponsors.

At the Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega, we hold two philanthropies every year. Every fall, we hold our annual Wing Fling that benefits Make-A-Wish, in which we serve hot wings until midnight at the our home on campus. “Wing Fling” is one of the largest and most popular Greek philanthropies on campus—tickets are always a hot commodity among UNL students.

In the spring, we vote as a chapter to decide what organization we want to benefit. In the spring of 2018, we plan to hold our second annual Coffee with Chi O. This year, we voted to benefit The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

In addition, Chi Omega members are passionate about finding ways to be involved in the community on our own. Members volunteer their time and efforts to a wide array of organizations, such as TeamMates, Nebraska Human Resources Institute (NHRI), Clinic With a Heart, CityIMPACT, the Red Cross, The Big Event and many, many more.
