OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUSNESS-- Convention 2018 was one of the most incredible experiences of my life! Our conventions are biennial so when they happen, THEY HAPPEN. As Director of Communications I had the privilege of capturing every moment through photos and videos and let me tell you I was LIVING for it.
The minute we stepped into the hotel, everything was decked out in all things Chi Omega. From our famous cardinal and straw colors to the owl and white carnations, I was in Chi Omega paradise. Each day was themed with a dress code and coordinating activity.
Cardinal and Straw Day
My goodness I have never seen so much cardinal and straw. Immediately, gliding down the escalator the owl was present and smiling for every photo opp.
Sidenote: the owl is our Chi Omega symbol and mascot. Taking a photo with it practically fulfilled every Chi Omega’s dream.
Later that night we experienced the Parade of Chapters where our girl, Prez Adri, led the way proudly displaying the Kappa chapter flag. Adri sported a red stole representing our chapter as a Chapter of Excellence.
Business / School Spirit Day
The following day was a day of hustle and getting things done—something we Chi Omegas know and love. Dressed in our best business attire, we discussed leadership, held a massive Chapter meeting, and made important national decisions. We were even featured in some of the workshops!
We took a 180 degree flip and dressed in our school tee shirt and jeans for dinner. The Husker dream team was loud and proud. Following a necessary dance party and “Go Big Red” chant, we received the best news we could possibly imagine: Chi Omega—Kappa Chapter—was awarded the “Spirit of Service” which is given to only ONE Chapter every two years for their dedication to serving others.
Mood = !!!!!!!!!
Here we are pictured with Chi Omega National President, Shelley Potter (aka queen of Chi Omega). Let me tell you, I have never worn that Kappa chapter pin so proudly on my chest.
We were able to watch a real live initiation of four new sisters from across the country and you guys—I cried. There was something so beautiful about seeing girls from all ages, from every state, and background all together in one room wearing white. Every single person had experienced that same initiation and felt the same wave of emotion as they were welcomed into the Chi Omega sisterhood.
It. Was. Stunning.
Convention 2020 will celebrate Chi Omega’s 125th year of existence. As we exited the final dinner, we were met with a surprise lining the steps to get us excited for the next convention. PUMPED.
We couldn’t leave Arizona without stopping at In-N-Out Burger. I mean how could we pass up the cardinal and straw photo op.
If given the chance to attend Chi Omega Convention—DO IT! You will not regret the memories made, lessons learned, and sense of pride instilled.
I love you CHI OMEGA!
